Some fascinating inclusive tours have been developed for 2008, showcasing the heritage of Romania – a land where rural farmers invite travelers into their homes to share a sip of tuica (a potent plum liquor) and bit of homemade bread and cheese.

This year, it will be possible to combine tours of Romania with such nearby countries as Croatia or Hungary – all within a two-hour flight or a day’s drive. Included in most tours are treasured world-heritage sites as Sighisoara or southern Bucovina’s ancient painted monasteries.

Travel Time offers a 15 day / 14 night’s tour of Croatia and Romania.
Highlights include: the cities of Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik in Croatia as well as Bucharest, Sinaia and southern Transylvania (Brasov, Sighisoara and Sibiu) in Romania.

A three country tour is being offered by Continental Journeys.
The tour starts in Sofia (Bulgaria) - goes across Romania from the south to northwest - and ends in Budapest (Hungary).

Austrian Airlines – which is the recommended, preferred airline for travel from North America to Romania - together with IMTC, Inc., are offering “City Steal” vacation packages to Bucharest as well as combined trips to Vienna (Austria) and Bucharest and to Bucharest and Sofia (Bulgaria).

Special interest tours include: Craft - dedicated to visiting Romania’s artisans, artists and museums, vineyards and wine tasting, Count Dracula Legend, folk music and dance festivals, hiking, rejuvenation spas packages and eco-tourism in the Danube Delta.

Several companies offer cruises of varying lengths, on the Danube River, beginning or ending in the traveler’s choice of Bucharest, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Passau or Amsterdam.
