Pastoral Album Folk Festival (Album Pastoral)
Taking place in the beautiful small village of Rasinari, an old shepherds settlement at the foothills of Cindrelul Mountain, this folk festival marks the moment when shepherds move the flocks up in the mountains. Scenes drawing inspiration from the life of the shepherds in preparation of their journey – the sheperd’s parting with his wife or sweetheart, the walking and marking of the sheep – are replicated through folk dances and songs. R??inari is connected to Sibiu by a roughly 5 mile tram line through the Dumbrava Forest.

Apata - 20 miles north of Brasov
Rooster Shooting (Impuscatul cocosului)
An old and funny celebration takes place every year on the Catholic Easter day in the village of Apata. The "rooster shooting" is related to a story which says that in the 14th century, during a Tartar invasion, the local population took shelter in the village fortress. While the Tartars were retreating, they heard a rooster cry coming from the fortress, betraying thus the hiding place of the locals. After the Tartars left, as punishment the villagers decided to shoot the rooster. Nowadays the real rooster has been replaced by a painted one, the angry villagers by children and the guns by toy crossbows. After the church mass, the children followed by the village fanfare and many locals dressed in their beautiful traditional costumes, meet at the base of a hill where the shooting takes place. Before shooting, they recite a short poem that represents the "accusations". The celebration ends up with a feast in the village center.

April 16 – 23, 2006
Vatra Moldovitei – 20 miles away from Suceava
Easter Eggs Painting Traditions (Vopsitul Oualor)
Among the well-preserved Easter traditions of Bucovina, the painting of the eggs is one definitely worth seeing. In the past, women used natural pigments to get the base color for the eggs - infusions of walnut tree leaves and onion peelings (to dye yellow), blueberries (to dye purple), fir-cones (to dye beige), boiled beet (to dye red), and corn-flower (to dye blue). The eggs were then hand decorated. The technique and quality of the lines, whether curving around the egg, drawing on ancient motifs or representing traditional folk ornaments from the region, are the most important elements of the egg-decorating art.

The Pageant of the Juni (Junii Brasovului)
A spectacular celebration with ancient roots takes place in Brasov every year. The “Juni” (meaning "young men" in Latin) from Schei (a former traditional Romanian village, now a district of Brasov) ride through the town dressed up in amazing costumes and followed by brass bands. Some of the costumes are over 150 years old and one of them is sewn with some 40000 spangles. The parade from Unirii Square - the historic center of Schei – to the Old Town Council Square in Brasov and then towards the Solomon’s Rocks has been preserved without changes across centuries. The feast ends with a rustic party at “Solomon’s Rocks”.
