The 2005 edition of the ArtPhoto Image Festival marked Romania’s first
photography festival. The three-day event gathered over 25 photography curators
from all over Europe and the United States. In addition to the 12 Romanian
media artists and photographers, there were artists from Hungary, Austria,
Germany, France, Slovakia, Holland, Croatia, Argentina, UK, and the USA. They
had their portfolios reviewed by curators from festivals and arts organizations
such as Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Russia), Museum at the University of Umea
(Sweden) and organizations in Italy, Hungary, Austria as well as a private
collector from New York. In addition to the portfolio reviews, ArtPhoto Image
Festival provided three days of lectures and films at the French Cultural Institute
on new media perspectives. The 2006 edition presents a unique opportunity for
artists to have their portfolio reviewed and promoted on the contemporary art
scene. The 2006 portfolio review registrants are invited to opening festivities,
exhibition receptions and other activities. In addition to the formal portfolio
reviews, there is plenty of time for informal networking and meetings with
